As of Aug. 8, the Marion County Informer will no longer be updated with new content because Publisher Josh Mitchell has moved on to new challenges. Mitchell wants to thank all the readers, advertisers and donors who made this online newspaper possible. It was a privilege to serve Marion County and Columbia with daily news in a new online format. The Marion County Informer will stay up for the time being, but will no longer be updated. If anyone is interested in taking over this online newspaper, please contact Mitchell via e-mail at marioncountyinformer@gmail.com.

Oh no!! Now, I will not know the truth about what is happening in Columbia!!!!!! Will surely miss this online paper!!
well i’m just SICK! have thoroughly enjoyed your site. God bless you as you move on to these new challenges. thank you for what you’ve done here.
a very sad day
THANK YOU JOSH FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK…WILL MISS ALL THE INFORMATION THAT YOU HAVE BEEN POSTING
Josh,
In the mean time, you sould direct everyone to the Facebook page and encourage them to post their own news updates until someone buys the site. If you do this, please remove the posting restrictions… the “+ Others” and “Just Others” tabs are annoying!
Good riddance to bad trash. Have fun shitting up whatever other community you go to.
Your words reveal not only your lack of intelligence, but also your lack of class and good breeding. Were your parents first cousins or something akin?
God bless Josh as he moves on to new challenges. We were lucky to have someone of his caliber and expertise for the time we had him.
His relentless pursuit of the truth and the facts is nearly unheard of here. He is truly an investigative reporter of which there are too few. But mostly, he gave the people the voice that they wanted so badly.
Thanks Josh and good luck.
JOSH,JUST WANTED TO TELL YOU JUST HOW MUCH I HAVE ENJOYED YOUR WEBSITE.LIKE MARGIE HARRIS SAID,WE WILL NO LONGER KNOW THE TRUTH ABOUT WHAT IS HAPPENING IN COLUMBIA AND MARION COUNTY. IM SURE WHO EVER TAKES IT OVER,WILL NOT DO AS GOOD OF A JOB AS YOU HAVE. BEST WISHES FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY,AND GOD BLESS YOU ALL FOR YOUR TRUTH IN TELLING. THANKS JOSH
Well, that’s just great! My son told my husband and I about this site. We’ve loved it. We don’t subscribe to the CP or its new only-for-subscribers site. Now, I guess we’ll be clueless again. Oh, wait! There is the Marion County Journal for the positive stuff!
Aw, thiss sux man. Right outa sara palin’s playbook, quit in the middle of the stream…
I am very sorry to hear this but do wish u josh the best of luck in your future tasks.. just want to say I have heard about the Marion county journal so I decided to take a look.. and if you want to read a site that paints Columbia as a perfect town (which we know its not) with no crime, no. Scams, and no lying scheming city officials then hey, its a great site for u! Granted, its nice to hear about the good things too but come on people, let’s not walk around with blind folds on.. there really are shootings, drug deals, and things that get swept under the rug by the officials EVERYDAY! It’s only the ones who are either blind to the facts or are a part of all of it that does not agree with the work josh has done..
I am very sad to read this!!! Josh we will miss you!!
I really hate this website is going away. Josh you did an awesome job keeping everyong up on the things going on that otherwise we would never know about. Also we could all speak our opinion which is one of the things our troops are fighting for ” freedom of speech, etc “. I wish you luck in whatever you do, but sure wish you could keep this going. God Bless you and God Bless America!
Hope everyone votes for Joe Turney for Circuit Court Judge. He will be the best you could ask for
While I value your support, if that was your intention, this was not the time for this comment. This is MCI/Josh’s time and response from his readers, which included myself. Ponder this before you act for youself or others, “I think I thought a thought too quick.” Whatever anyone thinks about MCI, MCI clearly pointed out this is all too often the case even in our own back yard. Let us give thought before we think to act!
Josh, America needs more informers. I hope the people holding local offices have taken note of how people really feel about issues here.
I would be willing to pay monthly dues to keep the informer going if that would help Josh. I would rather do that than buy a paper that tells you nothing. Let the people know. We need to know what is going on in this City and County. We are their paychecks, we are the government and we deserve the know what is happening when, why and how.
Dear “good sense”:
Thank you for your offer to make a financial contribution, but my reasons for stopping the Informer were not monetary in nature.
Thanks,
Josh Mitchell
Well now back to no voice,no exposures, and all the good old boys clicking their heels together with joy.Back to what they don’t know wont hurt us attitude. Thanks Josh for bringing some light on many issues while you did.Good job! Much luck with your future endevers.
I did think before I made the comments. You have my vote Mr. Turney and I hope all the votes in Marion and surrounding counties. I figured this would be my last chance to voice my opinion publicly online. I not only wish you the best with your election but wish Josh the best with whatever he does in the future.
