I would not complain. Let me take some pics and send them to you of the prices down here in DEEP south Louisiana and you would not complain either. And…this is where the gas comes in! It has to be shipped from here and we pay more for it here. Just saying.

I UNDERSTAND MRS.MS.MERCIER AND HER COMPLAIMT ABOUT THE GAS IN SOUYH LA. BUT THIS GOES ON ALL THE TIME HERE IN MARION COUNTY. WHEN YOU HAVE TWO OR THREE PEOPLE IN THE OIL AND GAS BUSINESS LIKE IT IS IN MARION COUNTY,THEY ARE ” OVER ” IT THEY CAN SET THE PRICE THEY WANT. I FILLED UP MY CAR IN BELLEVUE YESTERDAY AND PAID 2.47 A GALLON. THAT IS JUST A LITTLE OVER 17 MILES FROM COLUMBIA. IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN THAT WAY HERE. THESE PEOPLE HAVE A MONOPOLY ON THE GAS PRICES IN MARION COUNTY.THESE PEOPLE KNOW THAT NOT MANY WILL DRIVE THAT FAR TO GET GAS. AND GOD FORBID ANYTHING LIKE A HURRICANE COME THROUGH,WE WILL REALLY SEE THE GAS PRICE GO UP AND THESE TWO OR THREE COMPANIES CAN REALLY SCREW THE PEOPLE OF THE COUNTY AND CITY.IT IS REALLY A SHAME. THANKS JOSH

Gas per gallon in Oloh yesterday was 2.30 something a gallon. Here’s one thing that happens the local bulk supplier has huge tanks they buy and fill them and all the tanks at ever station when the price is low then they wait and hope it goes up and they make a killing now in fair play I gotta say at times they may buy and then the price fall but they cover themselves. Another point it doesn’t matter if its 5.00 a gallon in Texas or wherever the bulk suppliers are rich from us regular folk. What can you do about it ???? Try buying from out of town suppliers for awhile if enough people did this it might make a difference you still might pay the same but it might get the local suppliers attention. Country stores try posting a sign in your window saying who you buy your fuel from, here’s a few out of town supplied stations, kangeroo, keiths if you know of some others post them , the people hold the power , like our forefathers but only when they stick together !

That’s some good information. I don’t go to Hattiesburg that often preferring to keep as much of my money in Marion County as possible but knowing I could save up to 20 cents a gallon might tip me towards the west end of Hattiesburg. Generally speaking though when the price spread is only 4 cents per gallon locally then going to the most convenient station seems to be the most reasonable choice.
Here’s a tip I’ve learned over the years though: run a bottle of fuel injector cleaner through every 2, 3, or 4 tanks and it will pay for itself and more! I got about 15 to 20% increased mileage the last time I forgot to use it (about 8 or 10 fill-ups). The power boost was noticeable as well; as far as I can tell the cheapest fuel injector cleaner works just as well as the big name brands and I pick up a few bottles when I find them under a buck-fifty. Several months ago I picked up a few plastic bottles at Dollar Tree for a dollar apiece but they didn’t have any the last time I checked about a month ago.

    Guy’s Grocery, $2.569 a gallon.

  4. J SAYS says:

JOSH THIS IS JUST WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT. GO 17 MILES AND PAY 14 CENTS LESS A GALLONAND LIKE GOSHDOGIT PAID AT LEAST 30 CENTS A GALLON LESS.YOU CAN SEE WHY THE DOWNTOWN AREA IS MOVING OUT ON HWY 98 OR SHUTTING DOWN. THEY NEED TO GET REAL WITH THE PEOPLE. THEY DON’T NEED TO SAY ANYTHING ABOUT NOT HAVING ANY BUSINESS DOWNTOWN,WHEN YOU CAN GO TO WALLEY WORLD AND GET THE SAME THINGS,CHEAPER. THE OLDER BUSINESSES IN COLUMBIA HAVE BEEN GETTING RICH OFF THE PEOPLE FOR YEARS. I WISH THERE WAS A GAS STATION JUST OUT SIDE OF MARION COUNTY THAT HAD GAS FOR 2.20 A GALLON THEN THE TWO OR THREE THAT RUN THE GAS STATIONS WOULD HAVE TO COME DOWN. WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO AN OLD FASHION GAS WAR? NO THAT WOULD GET PEOPLES ATTENTION. SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD IDEA

Gas was not 2.30 at Oloh. I drive past there every day to and from work.

      • goshdogit says:

Lady that I work with said once again , she paid 2.30 something per gallon yesterday( NOT 2.30 ) The bulk plants will lower the price at a station for half a day then turn around and jack it up the same evening.
