A Columbia woman has been charged with delivering a controlled substance to jail for allegedly bringing a crack pipe to the Marion Walthall Correctional Facility.
The woman, Jessica Lambert, 22, allegedly brought the crack pipe into jail after she was arrested for public drunk by the Columbia Police Department on May 11. The crack pipe contained a small amount of crack cocaine, the affidavit states.
She was caught with the crack pipe in jail the same night she was booked on the public drunk charge, according to the police report. She had hidden the crack pipe in her buttocks and pulled it out to smoke after borrowing a lighter from an inmate, the police report adds.
The incident was reported to the Pearl River Basin Narcotics Task Force. Although the alleged incident occurred on May 11, Lambert was not arrested on the charge until today, according to the jail log. The charge of delivering a controlled substance to a correctional facility is a felony, and Lambert has a preliminary appearance scheduled for June 10 in Marion County Justice Court.

Inmates are allowed to hae lighters they have to light cigarettes
you can have lighters in there they smoke cig in there.. so y would u think they wouldnt have a lighter?

Actually lighters are considered contraband. Inmates can purchase matches from the canteen. This is the major reason inmates will take toliet paper and make a “wick” so they will not have use matches as fast.
PRISON/JAIL should be a non-smoking facility like the courthouse or any other place in town. If they are in there, they don’t deserve to be smoking and of all things allowed to have lighters. Might as well give them a beer or two to go with that cig. Guess they have HBO too. That is sad. Sounds like a good time to quit smoking. This is really DUMB on law enforcements part to allow such in jail. I can’t do it at work!!! What are you people in charge of this place THINKING or or you thinking.
