A Columbia man this afternoon pleaded not guilty in Marion County Circuit Court to several sex crimes.
The man, Brandy Hilburn, 36, has been indicted on two counts of sexual battery and three counts of child molestation. His trial is set for July 12, and he is being held in Marion County Jail with no bond.
Count 1 and Count 2 of the indictment allege that Hilburn on March 10, 2009 engaged in sexual penetration with an 11-year-old girl. He faces up to 30 years in prison on each count of sexual battery.
Counts 3-5 charge that Hilburn, for the “purpose of gratifying his lust or for the purpose of indulging his depraved licentious sexual desires,” touched the same child from Jan. 1, 2009 to March 31, 2009 in Marion County. He faces two to 15 years in prison on each of those three counts.
2 to 15 yrs. is not long enough. This should be a life sentence plus castration.

This a bunch of bullsh*t and so is this online paper. You call youself The Informer, but you forget to get all of the facts, and when someone puts something out that does not go along with you twist on a story, you just deleate their comments. WAY TA GO JOOSSSHHH!

Have you ever heard the phrase “Don’t shoot the messenger”?
It sounds like wou are a relative of the accused. Josh is showing what is public record, no more, no less. I’ve never seen a write-up in the Informer which states the guilt of anyone unless they have been found guilty by a court of law.
Just cause your mad at some comments made, don’t take it out on Josh.
Personally, I’m glad he left the Columbian Progress, for whatever reason, and started this online paper.
Some people in Marion County don’t agree with me on that last statement, but our elected officials have never been more accountable to the citizens since the Informer came online.(Which brings up happenings the public would never here about otherwise.)
You don’t know the story, so you need to keep you mouth shut. The little girl that he supposedly did this to is lying on him to protect her boilogical father. That is the peice of dirty dog sh*t that touched her. She was checked by a Dr at MCGH and was found that there had been no penetration of any kind. The kid wants attention and her mother is going along with it.
She (his soon to be ex) went through over $90,000 in three months and decided that that was all that she could get.
I know this man personally and do not beleive one word of what they (the other side) is saying about him.
You just remember one thing. That could be you brother or son that was being charged with these awful acts. You know that they wouldn’t do it but what you know doesn’t matter when it comes to the public’s opinion

You appear to be very upset and rightly should be if these allegations prove to be false.Unfortunately, we are hearing/reading far too many similiar stories as of lately….saddens my heart for many reasons. Alot of folks will indeed judge this man and say he is guilty no matter what the truth is. My greatest concern, however is for a child to endure any type of abuse and choose not to come forward for reasons such as being called a liar or for fear of her reputation being flawed in a small town. Child abuse is and has always been something that I detest. I pray that the truth will come out and that this child will somehow make it through this terrible ordeal that she has been forced to endure…
you got the right name from the outside looking in you dnt know u where not there i happen to know both brandy and his soon to be wife but if tht was your child someone did tht to wouldnt you trust your child the mother felt like she was between a rock and a hard place i would have done the same thing the mother did u need to shut yo flap FROM THE OUTSIDE LOOKING IN- Thank u mr informer job well done
Having the same type thing in our family….everyone is jumping to conclusions with out knowing whether its true!!!!! It is true HE IS Someones Brother, Son, Family member!!!! Give him a fair chance to prove his innocence!!!!! Marion County Court Dept will drag this on for ever til his name will be slung thru the mud until the truth IS OUT!!
You can’t blame this man, you should be blaming his parents for giving him a name like BRANDY, Isn’t that usually a girl name? Poor kid, I hope that the truth comes out and if he’s not guilty then the paper should run a story and state that he’s not guilty.
The only thing I can say is I have known brandy for 17 years and I have a 14 year old son by him. And I know for a fact that he would never do this and I would bet my life on that. So people that comment on this should get both sides of the story. If I was her mother I would not be able to sleep at night knowing that I thought that my daughter was lieing and knowing that a innocent man could go to prison and his son would have to be without him.
Isn’t it just amazing at how many illiterate people are out there. Just some friendly advice: Before you start putting down on people, and talking a lot about something that you really don’t know anything about, CHECK YOUR SPELLING AND PUNCTUATION!!!
I know this person and his family and they are good people this guy has made some bad decisions in his life but this is not something he would do also if you are going to write on this subject you should get all the info for instance the doctor that examined the girl said there was no evidence of abuse of any kind Marion County informer it is ok to just copy the police docket on some things but not on something like this around here if you are accused of something like this you are assumed guilty so do a little research before you print these kind of stories on anyone
Anyone can go and have charges brought against another person, it is then investigated and there is the problem…the investigating in Marion County needs more expert and experience in that department. It scares me because I have been at the other end where irreputable individuals have pressed charges against my family and it turned out false…
